Doing your online shopping via a shopping portal is a very easy way to rack up substantial numbers of miles without even traveling…especially when there are some increased bonuses available like there are right now. In fact, with a few retailers you are approaching some seriously crazy good territory when you stack a few of the bonuses on top of each other as I will highlight below.

The Blue Business℠ Plus Credit Card from American Express

United MileagePlus Shopping has just introduced “one week of bonus miles” where you can earn up to 15x miles per dollar spent at select retailers. On top of that they also have the site-wide bonus that runs from 6/9/16 – 6/23/17 and awards up to 1,500 bonus United miles for your cumulative online purchase totals. Additionally, the MileagePlus X app is awarding 10x at multiple restaurants and retailers. In some cases you can stack all three of these offers and earn some crazy numbers of United miles in the process.

The new increased retailer payouts via the United MileagePlus Shopping site are:

  • eBags 15x
  • JCPenney 10x
  • L’Occitane 15x
  • Nike 15x
  • Omaha Steaks 12x

As an example of how this stacks, Nike just so happens to be paying out 10x via the MileagePlus X app. Let’s say you had $150 in Nike purchases for your family this week. If you purchased a $150 Nike e-gift card via the MileaePlus X app at 10x miles per dollar, that would earn you 1,500 United miles. Then if you used that e-gift card to pay for your $150 Nike order made via the United MileagePlus Shopping site that should* earn you another 2,250 United miles at 15x miles per dollar. On top of that, $150 in purchases in the MileagePlus Shopping site would trigger the first tier 500 mileage bonus via the current sitewide bonus offer.

All told that should* come to 4,250 United miles for one $150 Nike purchase, which is the same as earning about 28 miles per dollar spent. This total doesn’t even count the miles or points you would earn on your rewards earning credit card for purchasing the e-gift card via the MileagePlus X app. Now I say “should” with an asterisk because it doesn’t always work that paying with a gift card via an online shopping site will pay out miles, but reports are pretty positive that this works with Nike.

Do you plan on stacking some of these offers to score big numbers of United miles?
